From calming minds before bed, to reducing anxious thoughts, hearing customer feedback is what keeps us thriving at Stix HQ. We recently spoke with Susie, who bought a set of Stix Remotes for her child who suffers from symptoms of PTSD.
"We have been actively using our Stix, typically before bed to calm our minds." Said Susie.
When Susie first got in touch with us at Stix, she told us about the long NHS waiting list they have been on for specialist therapy, she was looking for something to help fill the gap whilst waiting.
It’s estimated that 50-70% of people will experience a trauma at some point in their life, with one in 13 facing PTSD symptoms in childhood (1). Cognitive Therapy and Exposure Therapy are often used to help treat PTSD to help individuals to gain control of lasting fears that are a result of traumatic incidences. The concern for many families is that private therapy is not accessible, and NHS therapy can require a long waiting period.
Susie isn't alone in this struggle, more than 1.8 million people are on the waiting list for mental health services in the UK (2). NHS trusts struggling to provide support due to lack of funding, and many children and young people are not getting the help they need.
Susie and her child often play Rainbow Painting together, their favourite activity, which aims to educate children on different emotions they can experience by comparing each emotion to different colours of the rainbow. Children paint each colour of the rainbow into the sky taking slow deep breaths, and reflecting on how each colour of the rainbow makes them feel.
"I have noticed it really does have such an amazing impact on the initial emotions and I can notice a shift into calmness which is amazing."
"We have had some flair ups of night terrors and anxious thoughts again recently, but my child now instinctively goes to get our Stix to use, which again is so amazing."
"I think they are an absolutely brilliant piece of kit. I love that they are very portable too. My child loves them and I'm very impressed too!"
